Tasks & Responsibilities:

Assist in patient assessment to identify appropriate nursing interventions
May administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician or according to established policies and protocols
monitor, assess, address, document and report symptoms and changes in patients’ conditions
Participate in the examination of patients and take their medical histories and consult with physicians and other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health
May order laboratory tests, x-rays and other diagnostic procedures
Observe and assist to inoculate and vaccinate patients
Observe patients and their families being advised on health care including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention
May collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team such as family physicians, therapists and nutritionists to plan, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate patient care in consultation with patients and their families
Operate or monitor medical apparatus or equipment
Observe medical procedures
Assist in the development and implementation of discharge planning processes on admission of patients
Counsel patients and their families on health-related issues in collaboration with other health care providers

Program requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
Must have a valid passport and be legally eligible to travel abroad
Must provide a criminal record check
A beginners understanding of Spanish is preferred but not mandatory
